How much does it cost to ship a car from China to Nigeria in 2026?
If you are importing cars, SUVs or pickup trucks from China to Lagos, this is the honest price breakdown we give our clients every week, no hidden fees:
Current shipping rates to Apapa / Tin Can Island
- RoRo shipping: For a Toyota Hilux, SUV or sedan, expect to pay $1200–$1500 per unit, sailing from Tianjin or Qingdao. Transit time is 28–35 days, with weekly departures.
- 40ft container: You can fit 3 SUVs or 4 sedans in one 40HQ container. Total container rate is around $3800–$4500, which works out to $1100–$1400 per car. This is the better option if you want to pack spare parts or personal effects inside the car.
- Heavy trucks / dump trucks: HOWO or Shacman dump trucks ship via breakbulk or RoRo, starting at $2800–$3500 per unit depending on size.
Documents you need
Nigeria customs requires SONCAP certification, and we can help you arrange this from China. You will also need the original export invoice and packing list, which our team prepares for you.
The biggest mistake new importers make
A lot of new buyers pick the cheapest quote they find online — we have seen clients land in Lagos only to be charged $1000+ in extra port fees that were not mentioned in the original quote. Our prices are all-inclusive: port charges in China, ocean freight, and basic documentation. No surprise bills when your cargo arrives.
